Sattu Ka Namkeen Sharbat Recipe is a popular summer drink recipe from the Northern India. Sattu flour is made by soaking the chana dal overnight, then boiling them till cooked al dente, and then, drying this under the sun.

Once the cooked chana dal is dried under sun, It needs to be roasted on low flame till they crisp up and reduce any residual water content. Then this roasted chana dal is ground to make a flour.

Though besan tastes similar to the sattu flour, there is mild but detectable difference in taste if replaced. Sattu flour has good amount of vegetarian source of proteins. 

Sattu Ka Namkeen Sharbat Recipe is made with the roasted gram flour, mixed with roasted cumin, black salt and mint leaves giving it a refreshing taste. It is beneficial in the summer months as it cools down the body temperature.

    3-1/2 Roasted Gram Flour (Sattu Ka Atta)
    4 Mint Leaves (Pudina), finely chopped
    2 Coriander (Dhania) Leaves, finely chopped
    1 Green Chilli, finely chopped
    1 Lemon juice
    1/2 Cumin powder (Jeera)
    1/2 Black Salt (Kala Namak)
    3 Chilled water
    Salt, to taste

    To begin making the Sattu Ka Namkeen Sharbat Recipe, get all the ingredients handy.

    In a bowl, add the sattu flour. To this, add rest of the ingredients including pudina leaves, coriander leaves, green chilli, lemon juice, roasted cumin powder, black salt, and mix well after adding cold or chilled water.

    Stir until the drink is uniform and without any lumps. You can do this with a spoon or use a handheld buttermilk churner/whisk.

    Pour it into the tall glasses and serve.
