Popped Jowar Chivda or Jwarichya (Jondhalyachya) Lahyancha Chivda is a traditional Maharashtrian snack. Popped Jowar (Lahya) is flavoured with a few spices to make this quick and healthy snack.

Popped Jowar is readily available at most grocery stores or specialty health stores. One can easily make it at home by dry roasting jowar seeds. If you have been stocking the Lahya for some time, just check them for crispness. If they have become soggy due to moisture, microwave them for 1 minute on high, cool, and then use.

This addictive chivda is a great accompaniment to your cup of Masala Chai Recipe - Indian Spiced Tea or coffee or is a great munching snack to satisfy kids hunger pangs.

Serve Javarichya Lahyancha Chivda as it is or topped with chopped onion, tomato, coriander leaves and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
