Instructions for Lebanese Chickpea Falafel Recipe - Healthy Non Fried Recipe

    1

To begin making the Lebanese Chickpea Falafel Recipe, prepare all the ingredients and keep them ready. Soak the chickpeas for about 8 hours/ overnight.

    2

Drain all the water from the soaked chickpeas.

    3

Add the chickpeas, parsely, cumin, pepper, chilli, garlic and salt into a food processor. Do not add any water to make this falafel batter. It needs to be thick, the salt added will slowly release moisture.

    4

A food processor really helps in giving a better falafel batter. If you are using a mixer grinder, grind them in small batches.

    5

Blend to make a coarse paste. Transfer to a large mixing bowl and add the chopped onions. Mix well, and check the salt and adjust accordingly.

    6

Divide the falafel batter into small portions of the size of a ping pong ball and flatten them slightly.

    7

Next step is to prepare oil for deep frying. Once the oil is heated, add 3 to 4 falafels at a time and deep fry these falafels until browned evenly on all sides. Ensure you deep fry on medium heat as they need to get browned evenly.

    8

Serve the Lebanese Chickpea Falafel is had along with a Tabbouleh SaladPita Bread and  Hummus.
